Terms and Conditions

1)Theme: ‘One Human Race’a The International Journalists Association (IJA) Humanity Cartoons 2025 Competition seeks artwork that addresses themes related to racism. In a world where racism is on the rise, this competition calls upon artists to create original works that raise awareness through the power of art.

2) Eligibility: The competition is open to all individuals aged 16 and over, except for the organizing committee and their immediate families. The cartoon must be an original creation and must not have won an award in any previous competition.

3) Submission period: The competition will begin on 01/11/2025 and ends on 31/12/2025. Entries received after the end of the submission period will not be considered.

4) How to enter: To enter the competition, individuals must submit a cartoon on the subject of racism. The cartoon must be original and created by the individual submitting it. The cartoon must not contain violence, profanity, sex, or direct attacks on individuals or organizations that surpass the limits of legitimate criticism. Any entries deemed offensive will be immediately disqualified. The cartoon(s) must be submitted as a high-resolution JPEG/PNG/PDF. 5) Exclusive Artwork: Participants agree that any cartoon submitted to this competition must be original and previously unpublished. Additionally, participants agree not to use the same artwork for submission to any other competitions during the duration of this competition and until winners are officially announced.

6) Originality of Artwork: In the spirit of fostering genuine creativity and innovation, we emphasise that all submissions to the Humanity Cartoons Competition 2025 must be the original work of the entrant. Artworks should not be copies or significantly inspired by existing pieces, ensuring each submission represents the unique perspective and creativity of its creator. We encourage participants to explore their own ideas and experiences as sources of inspiration, crafting pieces that are not only original in execution but also in concept. This commitment to originality not only upholds the integrity of the competition but also respects the intellectual property rights of artists worldwide.

7) Rights granted by entrant: By submitting an entry to the competition, the entrant grants IJA a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and distribute the entry in any media for any purpose, including for promotion and advertising of the competition and IJA.

8)Prizes:
The winners of the competition will receive the following awards:
First Prize: $1250, Second Prize: $1000, Third Prize: $750, Jury Special Prize: $500, Honorable Mention (3): $250

The winners will be announced in the last week of January 2026.

● Payment will be made to the winner(s) of the competition within 30 days of the announcement of the winner(s).

● Payment will be made via bank transfer or PayPal, at the organiser’s discretion. The winner(s) will be responsible for providing the necessary bank account or PayPal information for payment.
● If the winner(s) is/are unable to provide the necessary bank account or PayPal information, the organiser reserves the right to disqualify the winner(s) and select an alternate winner(s).
● The winner(s) will be responsible for paying any taxes or fees associated with the receipt of the prize.
● The organiser will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the prize in transit or during delivery.
● By accepting the prize, the winner(s) agrees to allow the organiser to use their name and image in promotional materials.
● Any disputes arising out of or related to the competition or these payment terms and conditions will be resolved by the laws of Germany by the jurisdiction of the courts of Germany.

9)Judging:
Entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges selected by IJA Humanity Cartoons. The decisions of the jury are final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

10)Miscellaneous: Humanity Cartoons reserves the right to modify or cancel the contest or any of the arrangements, schedules, plans or other items directly or indirectly related to the competition at any time and for any reason if deemed necessary. Participation in the contest, including being selected to have your cartoon considered for inclusion in the final presentation, in no manner constitutes an endorsement or support by Humanity Cartoons of the candidates’ views or aims or of any products or services.

11)Usage of the name and logo:
Candidates shall not advertise or claim to have obtained any such endorsement or support. IJA Humanity Cartoons name and logo are the property of IJA Humanity Cartoons and should not be used in any manner whatsoever without the prior consent of IJA Humanity Cartoons. IJA Humanity Cartoons must approve in writing any statement, advertisement, press release or similar communication in any media relating to candidates’ participation in the competition.

12) General Terms:
Humanity Cartoons reserves the right to alter or cancel the competition or any associated events if necessary. The use of Humanity Cartoons’ name or logo by participants without prior written consent is prohibited. These terms and conditions are subject to change without prior notice.

13)Community Engagement:
The Humanity Cartoons Competition 2025 seeks to foster a vibrant community engagement through various platforms. We plan to showcase submitted artworks in online galleries and physical exhibitions, allowing public interaction and appreciation of global talents. Additionally, we aim to leverage social media campaigns to highlight notable entries, encouraging public discussions and shares to amplify the themes of ‘Peace and Unity’.
